Unlike other teenagers, my skin was quite good, and I never faced any acne during my teenage, and I never understood the pain of having acne prone skin until 2020. During lockdown I got to know about a new thing called ‘skincare routine’ And my whole fyp was filled with different people showing off their skincare products and routines.
At that time I was a total noob and bought some products online, not knowing about what my skin type was and what my skin actually needs! And later I saw a TikTok describing how coconut oil is a great cleanser and without thinking twice I started using different products and coconut oil every night on my face & wasn’t exfoliating enough which eventually got my pores clogged!

One morning I woke up and my face was covered with so much pimples and I panicked. This whole acne situation continued for 6-7 months, During these months I learned many things-
- Pretty privilege is actually a thing.
- There’s no such thing like inner beauty,it’s all about outer appearance.
- Having severe acne literally breaks down your self confidence.
- Your face is ultimately the first impression.
- People will judge you on your appearance.
I am an extrovert but after this I used to like being indoors and all alone, because every time I went out people would give advice about what should I do for my acne, that’s why I would cancel my plans and mask was my best friend at that time. I would use so many filters on my photos before posting them, I remember crying every morning ,I had to change my pillow covers every single day because they were full of puss and blood from my pimples popping every time I slept!

After trying so many home remedies and listening to peoples advice for months I finally decided to visit a dermatologist, he gave me expensive medication but it was worth it! After 2-3 months my acne was gone and I was left with some little marks on my face.
This whole situation may seem small to some people but it was a big deal for me! I was devastated. You never know when & why someone is hurting inside. This whole thing changed my perspective of beauty!
Whats my skincare routine now?
I am not a professional and I not suggesting my routine to anybody because it doesn’t mean it will work for you if it worked for me! I always try to wash my face twice a day and let my face to air dry. I used to wash my face with salicylic face wash when I had acne’s but now I just use a mild face wash, I sometimes uses salicylic acid serum for my breakouts , and I uses niacinamide daily with moisturiser and sunscreen and retinol twice a week at night.
Now that I have much better skin I got my self confidence back I am very comfortable and confident in my own skin , and it’s not only about skincare, your skin’s appearance depends highly on your diet and your health. Because if something’s not right inside you then it will show up on your face. So eat good, workout, apply your sunscreen, be confident ,and you will be good to go!
